La Pedrera - Casa Milà
Casa Mila, popularly called La Pedrera, is a modernist building designed by the architect Antoni Gaudí (1852 - 1926) and built between 1906 and 1910 in the Eixample district of Barcelona city.
Gaudí, in all of his architectural works, had a great concern to understand and play with the lights, take advantage of natural light to create shadows and make new spaces and new worlds.
A sample of this can be seen in the Milà house in which Gradhermetic blinds were used, specifically the Alumetic model, which allows to have a total opening and closing, thus obtaining maximum light or darkness.
In turn, the range of Alumetic roller blinds also allows for small 3mm openings, which is perfect to protect from the sun and have enough natural light to not need to use electric light.
